A short description of what we publish, who writes it, how we fix mistakes, and where the advice has to stop.

What we publish
Beginner-level gear care, packing and trip-prep checklists, plain-language buying explainers, and outdoor planning basics. We are not a gear review site, a route guidebook, or a survival channel. If a task needs a certified tech, a ranger, or a doctor, the guide says so and stops there.
Who writes it
Guides are attributed to their listed contributor or the Trail Gear Care Editorial Team. Some content may be drafted or checked with automated tools. Guides should not be taken as claims of product testing, professional certification, or first-hand experience.
What “reviewed” means here
On this site, “reviewed” means a content check before publication. The check may use automated tools and can include checking claims against official guidance, clarifying limits, and correcting formatting. It does not mean a human or an outside expert reviewed every article. For a specific product or route, follow its manufacturer and local authorities.
When we are wrong
Email hello@trailgearcare.com with the article URL and the line you think is off. We read corrections, fix what needs fixing, and update the date on the page so you can see the change.
Money
There are no affiliate links right now. If that ever changes, we will say so next to the link and on the Affiliate Disclosure page. A commission would not change what we recommend about safety or care.
